Cadeaux de Corée et Japon :)

Hello again, world!

It still thrills me to think that I have my own little space in the humongous worldwide network of webs that is the Internet xD I feel like a person! I wonder if that actually makes sense since nobody is a real human online. Lately I've been thinking about what else to write besides random rants about my interests and life, and honestly it's a bit difficult for me to focus on just one thing. I will focus this blog on one very broad topic though - art!

Speaking of writing, I'm having a hard time right now. I just got another idea for another book, even though I still have like, six others waiting in line to be written. One of the six is the first part of my trilogy. I'm not even sure if it's a good idea for a first-timer to be attempting a trilogy. Anyway I'm on Chapter 11, and moving on to the climax pretty soon, so it's too late to turn back now. Haha! Maybe I'll write down the details of my book here, but I'm not sure. I'm purty shy :P

I've recently received a letter from a wonderful aunt (my friend's mother's friend) who lives in Japan :) My cousin just came back from Korea around a week ago, and she gave me these wonderful souvenirs. I totally wasn't expecting these, and needless to say I was oh-so-very excited upon receiving them. I've always wanted to go to Korea! Like, so so badly! One of the things I'm going to do if I go there is to go and eat the real 짜장면 (jjajangmyeon - Chinese-style noodles in black bean sauce) and see if it really does taste like the instant ones, accompanied by a nice little portion of 단무지 (danmuji - pickled radish/daikon slices). I think 단무지 is the only pickled food I like.

The beautiful postcard and stamps (from her friend, whose hobby is collecting stamps) she enclosed in the letter. And all I could say was 'wow'. I'm so very grateful for these!

Voila! Ce sont les cadeaux de Corée! (Souvenirs from Korea!).

Snacks from Korea, called 'Choco Charlteok Pie', or in Hangeul (한글), (초코 찰떡 파이; cho-ko chal-tteok pa-i). It translates to 'Korean glutinous rice cake coated with chocolate, filled with peanut cream', as written on the package.

When I got to writing this part, I realised that I'd never actually tried it. So I did. Walked right over to one of my shelves where the box was sitting, opened the box, grabbed a single package, tore it open and took a good bite. I decided to eat it even if it's late at night - something that is against my rules. I really don't like to do things halfway, so I figured that I might as well give you my opinion of the taste and not just the packaging ;)

Oh my...gosh. It's so delicious! And really chewy, just like the name suggests! That was my impression of the first bite. You can totally taste the peanut cream inside, despite its seemingly little portion. The size is indeed, a bit tiny compared to its packaging.

Souvenir pens! These have faces of the heroes featured on Korean won (원) bills. I know the green one is King Sejong the Great (세종대왕 [se-jong dae-wang], famously known for his invention of Hangeul, thus saving the future generations of Korea from having to memorise thousands of traditional Chinese characters for daily use). I did my research, and found out the others' names. From left to right: Yi Hwang (이황), Yi I (이이), King Sejong, and Shin Saimdang (신사임당). The value of the bills they represent increase from left to right.

A mobile strap from Everland! I'm dying to go there, hopefully before I grow too old to get on the rides! Hehe ;) The charm is shaped like a bow, and it's pink. The middle part, the one made of metal, has little pink gems that sparkle under the light, though it can't be seen from this picture :S

Ah, but sadly, I have no mobile gadgets that allow me to use this on :(

I squealed when I saw this little cutie. At first I didn't even know what it was, until I read the bottom, where 'The Face Shop' was printed. This little cat in a pink pot is actually filled with hand cream. I think this product is called 'Lovely Mix Mini Pet Perfume Hand Cream' in number 4 Fruity Floral. It smells really nice, makes you smell kinda like a baby, in a good way. It does smell a bit fruity, but I think it smells of flowers more. I'm not so sure it's for everyone, but still, it has a nice and pretty long-lasting scent.

It's not very big in size, as you can see, and therefore makes it quite travel-friendly ;)
