First Hand at Photoshop

Huzzah! I've finally made a banner for this blog. That was the reason for yesterday's entry vacancy. This is actually my first achievement in Photoshop.

Before I started I didn't even know it existed on my laptop, let alone ever using it. So I searched in my laptop for anything called 'photoshop' (had my fingers tightly crossed) and to my delight, Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 appeared! :D

Still, I was a complete noob when I opened it. Needless to say, I searched my trusty friend Google for help countless of times. I don't think I've ever opened so many tabs at once. The Internet is just one of the things that make me glad I live in the 21st century.

With the help of some really helpful tips and guides online, I raided for free digital scrapbook papers. I can't afford to pay for anything I won't get in the real world, because I am just a humble student in her gap year. The selection part was fun and torturous at the same time. There were so many wonderful selections online, but to find the exact patterns I had in mind was difficult beyond words. Now I know I am not as bendable as I think.

One of the things I spent the most time on had to be globe with the infinity sign, which you can see right on top of the blog title. I've lost countless hours just working on this.

Ta-da! This is my globe of infinity. It also took me countless tries to get the infinity ring around the globe right. The idea of using the oil brush had to do with the cover of Infinite's (I love them and their music!) latest album, 'Infinitize'. 'Infinite' also happens to be my favourite word. It has inspired me in so many ways.

I thought about taking the globe from somewhere else and then drawing the infinity sign myself, but I didn't find the right globe to take, and so I had to make one myself. Yay.

I don't like to do things half-heartedly, so I drew the globe to be as accurate as the maps as possible. Yeah. I just wanted it to look 'professional', not the kiddy-doodle type of globe kindergarteners make. So I zoomed in and out a lot, colouring in everything, not missing a single pixel.

I actually had fun drawing the islands...until I zoomed out to see the overall picture. To my horror, I'd ended up making my own country way too big (it was almost as big as Australia, lol). I guess I was kind of biased. I shrunk all the islands and enlarged Australia just a teeny bit to fix it. In the process of making this globe, I think I spawned a few new islands :)

As for this biggest picture you can see in the banner, it's a blueberry stick biscuit box I had sitting on a part of my bookshelf for a while now. I 'animated' it to have its own face, while doing a little peace sign. I did so to symbolise the fact that between my countless interests and studies, delicious food is always a major pleasure of life that won't ever lose its place. It was rather complex reason, no? Hahaha :D
Here's a close up in case the face isn't visible:

Yeah. My first hand at Photoshop was filled with trials and errors. But I like to think that every noob can be a professional in making ;D (not that I'm really planning to be a total pro at Photoshop). I just know nothing was done in vain for this banner. That means I didn't really lose a whole day at Photoshop.
