Last weekend I had been blessed with the opportunity to travel to Bali! :D We left on Valentine's Day night and stayed there until the night of the 16th. It was a short yet indelible one spent with my maternal extended family :)
We stayed at a beautiful villa called Villa Coraffan in Cangguh. I'd never even heard of the area before, and it was quite far from..well, everywhere. However the views were spectacular! We arrived in the darkness and I was so excited to see that we were surrounded by a paddy field even though it . I couldn't wait to see what it was like in the day, so I went and took pictures after munching down some breakfast prepared by the in-house chef, Mr. Putu.
So without further ado, here are the photos of the paddy fields surrounding our stunning villa!
Next are some photos of our villa! I adored the pool, it was beyond cool. The whole place kind of reminded me of where the cast of ANTM Cycle 20 stayed at while they were shooting in Bali. I thought it was insane!
We ate at Naughty Nuri's, apparently famous for its beer and killer pork ribs (very tender and
well-seasoned!!). Order a martini or any drink that requires shaking, and the waitresses there will shake your drinks in front of your table, complete with energetic cheering and the delightful bonus of a little (if not A LOT) of booty. My family got obsessed with the shaking and they decided that there would be a "shake" contest that night, which thank goodness, did not happen. But that night, there was booty, a lot of dancing, and some booze.
Their voices. Still echo in my mind to this day. "Shake! Shake! Shake!"
At night we celebrated my grandma's 84th birthday, and the cake was baked and decorated by my cousin, Simone, whose cafe opening was our main purpose of travelling to Bali.
No stepping on the sesajen please. Although I should have listened to my own advice, as I accidentally stepped on one while being dragged by my energetic niece to the bus :P
Not to forget, we went souvenir shopping at Krisna!
On the last day, we went to visit my cousin's cafe (or warung as it was officially named) on its opening. I'm doing a separate post regarding that :)
Of course, a trip to Bali is not without visiting some of its beaches!
Unfortunately, being pressed with time and the family schedule, I was only able to visit one beach in Cangguh, which was populated by surfers trying to catch some waves. But due to the packed schedule, I was already afraid that I would actually end up going to Bali without visiting any beaches at all, so when my cousins called out that they were going to the beach, I jumped at the chance, neglecting my sunscreen because they were already waiting for me. We stayed there for around 20 minutes, just letting the waves clash against our feet again and again.
The pictures I took are mediocre, but there are many other beautiful beaches in Bali such as Kuta Beach and Geger Beach, both of which I visited when during our graduation trip in 2012. I especially loved Geger Beach because of its clear water and sand, and the lack of tourists coming there. I definitely recommend it!
Have you ever been to Bali? Or are you already considering Bali as your next holiday destination?
